Ben + Adela – True Romance

When I first met Adela and heard the love story that she and Ben share, I KNEW I had to photograph this truly special day for them.  Their story is one of romance and from a totally different time and I absolutely love it.  Adela moved across the country to the Twin Cities in the spring of 2009 to attend a Bible school in Plymouth — this is where she met Ben.  No sooner than a week after they met did Ben have to return to Tanzania, to proceed with his missionary work abroad.  The two remained in contact, mostly through long letters (as telephone and internet service isn’t necessarily easy to come by in Tanzania), and ultimately fell in love.  When Ben returned home for the holidays in 2009, they got engaged, and the wedding was on!  If all of that isn’t awesome enough, check this out: Ben and Adela decided to save their first real kiss for their wedding day – how amazingly romantic is that?!  And truly – we all know how amazing and special that first kiss is with someone you love… how many couples can say that they have that moment documented to look back on for the rest of their lives?  I felt truly honored to capture it.  And they were just too cute — once the floodgates were opened, they couldn’t stop stealing kisses for the remainder of the time I spent with them.  True, true love — it was awesome to witness.

Thanks so much for letting me be a part of your special day, B+A!  Your love for each other is amazing, and I’m so excited to see where your path together takes you!

NEW Branding!

As you’ve likely picked up on, if you’re reading this blog, I’ve gone through a whole new re-branding which all came to fruition about two weeks ago. I worked with the delightful Aurora of Red Organic, and I couldn’t be happier with how it all turned out. It was all quite a process — we talked about what I wanted my work and brand to say and to make people feel, went over several concepts, and finely tuned it until we came up with what you see today! I’m loving the colors and the organic, somewhat whimsical feel of it all, with the geometric circles tied in — it’s all me.  And I decided to separate my brand into two distinct parts – my wedding work, and my portrait work – so I can better cater to the specific interests of my clients. I now have two branches of my website and two separate take away pieces for clients. Truly my favorite part of it all? My awesome, round letterpress business cards — so in love with them!

Doesn’t get much better…

Had to share a quick favorite from Meg and Brad’s e-session at Minnehaha Falls tonight. Beautiful, right??

The Sticha Family!

I had the whole Sticha family come in to the studio for a session last week, and it was such a pleasure to finally meet the whole crew! Paul and I worked together back in the day (and actually unknowingly went to college together, too!), and he and his wife welcomed teeny little Elliott into the world on June 1st, so it was the perfect opportunity to get together. Elliot was wide awake the entire time, but so amazingly calm and peaceful — I don’t usually see those things go hand in hand! Big sister River, on the other hand, was full of energy — she apparently hasn’t stopped moving since learning to walk, but we managed to get her to sit still for a few photos by bribing her with cheese. And really — who doesn’t love cheese? I love it.

So thrilled to finally get to shoot some photos with you guys! You have a beautiful family, and those kids are just going to get cuter and cuter as they grow up!
