Marya and Kyle went to high school together, but didn’t really get to know each other until the summer after graduation, when they met through common friends. It turned out that they both liked the other, but it took their friends sitting them down and shaking some sense into them before they finally started dating… and the rest is history! They’re currently living in Maryland, where Marya is attending graduate school for environmental science, but while they were home for the holidays, we decided to make time for an engagement session. These two braved the cold with me on the day after Christmas, but it was totally worth it — a log cabin in the woods with freshly fallen snow? Perfect!

After this heck of a snow storm this past weekend, I thought we could use a look back at a warm, fall engagement session. I’ve been photographing Colleen and her siblings for years now — senior photos, weddings, babies — so I was, of course, thrilled when she asked me to shoot her wedding as well! She and Chad took me to the Pine Tree Apple Orchard for their engagement session — it’s one of their favorite places to go to together, and I just love when couples choose a location with personal significance for their e-photos. It may seem like ages ago at this point, but remember how warm it was in October this year? It was an awesome afternoon to spend amongst the apple and pumpkin harvest, and the lighting just couldn’t be beat. And how cute are these two? I couldn’t possibly find a way to narrow this session down any further.

Now that things are starting to slow down a bit, I’m finally getting some time to blog some of the work I’ve been doing these last few months. This post will be a quick one – almost as quick as Kristin and Bjorn’s ceremony was this past August! Seriously — these two live in Las Vegas, and while they may have brought the Vegas style ceremony with them – i.e., quick and to the point – they also brought the party with them! I shot this wedding with Nancy Van Thorre, and what a treat — K+B are such a laid back, utterly in love, full of life couple… and did I mention gorgeous? Thanks for letting me tag along, Nancy! And thanks for letting me share in your day, Kristin and Bjorn!
